Every year, the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy awards
one Chamberlain Scholarship to each AFP chapter for an individual to
attend the International Conference. The scholarship is named for Ralph
Chamberlain, who was instrumental in starting the organization we now
know as the Association of Fundraising Professionals
The Chamberlain Scholarship is designed to
help individuals serving nonprofit organizations develop their knowledge
and skill in fundraising.
The 2013
Conference will be held in San Diego on April 7-9, 2013. The Chamberlain
Scholarship from the Foundation covers the conference registration fee
for the recipient (minus a nominal $10 scholar registration fee). The
AFP North Central Ohio Chapter provides an additional $1,000 to help
defray the expenses of travel and accommodations.
This scholarship is
only awarded to a current member of AFP who has never previously attended a
National Conference.
If you are interested in applying, the application for the 2012
Chamberlain Scholarship is available
here. The
deadline is October 1, 2011.

steering committee to raise 10.3 million dollars to build the new YMCA
that replaced the aging Canal Square Y in downtown Akron. Additionally,
Sandy orchestrates the independent YMCA Endowment Foundation, working
with a small volunteer Board to raise awareness of the Foundation, which helps support the Akron Area YMCA branches in providing new
programs through grants.
Sandy is involved in the Junior League of Stark County, AFP North
Central Ohio Chapter, Y USA Partner YMCA mentor, and fundraising for her
boy’s sports and musical activities in High School. She is a Master
Trainer for AFP and Faculty Trainer for the YMCA.

tenure the estate’s board and leadership raised and invested over $15
million in capital improvements and major restoration efforts for this
jewel of northeast Ohio. Every one of landscape architect Warren
Manning’s signature gardens has been fully restored within the last
decade, with the Japanese Garden reopening to the public in June, 2010.

management.
A graduate of Leadership Akron Class
