She has two sons, John and Joshua, and resides in Jackson Township.

2010 Board Nominations

In addition, the AFP North Central Ohio Chapter is honored to present the following nominations to the 2010 Board of Directors. Due to recent changes in the bylaws, Directors serve one-year terms.

Barb Greene is the owner of and principal consultant with CommonGood Consulting, Inc., an organization that provides consulting, technical assistance, and fund development services for nonprofit and public organizations. Barb has spent her professional career in the nonprofit sector with organizations that included two public television stations, the YWCA of Flint, MI, a management support organization for nonprofits in West Michigan, and Summit Education Initiative in Akron. She is also an entrepreneur, having started two nonprofits along with her current business. Barb is active in the community and serves on the boards of Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association, Akron Urban League, and Akron Women’s Endowment Fund. When she’s not working or with her family, there’s a good bet that she’s on the tennis court!

Shelley Koch, Director of Development, Victim Assistance Program, has been active in the fundraising sector both as a volunteer and a professional since 1984. She joined the Victim Assistance Program as Director of Development in 2007 and was responsible for the implementation of the newly created development department. During the past 2 years, Shelley has acquired donor software, developed donor tracking, stewardship policy, and procedures, created annual giving and leadership campaigns, and successfully implemented fundraising events. While living in San Antonio from 2004-2007, Shelley served as Sponsor and Vendor Chair for the San Antonio AFP Conference. She is happy to be back in Akron with her husband David, and looks forward to her term as an AFP NCOH Board Member.

Belinda Richardson, Director of Development, Akron Urban League, has spent most of her professional career between the nonprofit sector and academia. Committed to empowering adults and families, her vitae depicts years of teaching and training adult learners, facilitating workshops, grant writing, fundraising, and program and curriculum development. Belinda’s passion and commitment is to work that is designed to strengthen the family and community. Specifically, work that cultivates positive relationships between individuals, families, and communities, and the environment in which they live. Her life’s work is to build bridges of understanding between cultures that lead to harmony and to encourage continued research and development of strategies designed to build cohesion among families and the professionals that serve them.

Laura K. Shank, Fund Development and Marketing Director, Greenleaf Family Center, is excited to join the AFP NCOH Board of Directors and the opportunity to grow as a development professional. She joined Greenleaf Family Center in 2007 and has taken Marketing and Fund Development of the agency to a new level. She has expanded funding sources and levels, implemented several additional fundraising events, and increased community awareness of the agency as well as its programming. Laura has a B.S.B.A. with a Specialization in Marketing from Bowling Green State University. Laura currently serves the Chapter on the National Philanthropy Day Logistics Committee.
