About Jody Bacon:
Jody Bacon joined the Akron Community Foundation in 1990 as Executive Vice President. In 1992, she was named Executive Director and President in 1999. Assets of the Foundation have grown from $17,000,000 in 1990 to more than $131,500,000 today. Prior to joining the Akron Community Foundation, she lived in Jackson, Michigan, where for 10 years she was Executive Director of the Jackson Community Foundation and the Hurst Foundation, a private foundation.
Jody serves on the boards of the following local and state-wide organizations: Akron Regional Development Board; Akron Roundtable; Leadership Akron Board (currently board President); and the WKSU Advisory Board. She has served as the President of the Akron Roundtable and Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is a graduate of Leadership Akron and has served on the boards of Grantmakers Forum, Ohio Donor's Forum, National Board of Directors, Girl Scouts of America, Summit Social Services Board, Akron Rotary and the Summit Education Foundation.
She received the 1995 Woman of Distinction Award from the Western Reserve Girl Scout Council and the 1998 Harold K. Stubbs Humanitarian Award. In 1999 Jody received the “RainMaker” Award from Northern Ohio LIVE! In June 2002, she was profiled as one of the top five of this area's 500 most accomplished and influential women by Northern Ohio LIVE!. In May 2005, Jody received the Sr. Elizabeth Ann Schaefer, O.P., Women's Leadership Award.
Jody is a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and the University of Michigan. She has two children and one grandchild.
